C.U. FRANK

The artist C.U. FRANK was born in Bamberg and moved to Nuremberg at the age of 19. She then studied communication design in Würzburg.

"Break-ins, upheavals, rethinking, and experiments" are how she describes the essential elements of her artistic work. She began studying philosophy and theology at Julius-Maximilian University in Würzburg.

During this phase, she created cycles of poetry, a novel manuscript, and collaborated with the "Gruppe Hirschenstraße 28," a group of students from the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts.

She participated in her first joint exhibition in a former twine factory in Fürth. The historical fall of the Berlin Wall, which she experienced from a distance in Canada and New York, ultimately led to a "radical rethinking" and marked a turning point in her artistic process.

After returning, she established her own studio, first in Würzburg and then in Düsseldorf, where she currently lives and works. She has been featured in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Her conceptual art approaches and projects have garnered significant attention, such as her contribution to the RUHRATOLL project LOCAL/GLOBAL for Ruhr 2010, European Capital of Culture, Essen.

C.U. FRANK's works are part of private and public collections, and images of her work can be found in several of her own catalogs as well as in collaborative catalogs.

C.U. FRANK is a member of the Düsseldorf artists' association "Malkasten" (vddk1844 / Verein Düsseldorfer Künstler founded in 1844) and the Kunstverein Kunst im Hafen e.V. Düsseldorf, where her studio is also located.
