In his oevre he uses different stylistic
techniques.

The work of Majweska can be classified in the
artistic development of the 1970s, where visual arts opened
in all kinds of directions and previous evaluative standards
broke up into pluralism.

His pictures and photographies are
experimental fields, which are characterized by a
inexhaustable creativeness, the willingness to experiment
and professional craftsmanship.

For his visual language he
associatively draws on the art-historical repertoire and
consciously deals with the material of the chosen stylistic
technique.

The subjects of his works wander through the
glossy magazines and the comics of the 1940s, which are
first disassembled and the newly combined. With the
encaustic, a technique already used in the ancient world
and in which pigments are intergrated in wax, the surface
receives a relief-like structure, which gives his pictures a
special intensity and chromatic strength. The different
image realities, taken from the every day life, art and reality
are put together with the consequence of creating new
meanings. Characteristical for his works is that they offer
enough space for association and interpretation and that
they are so manifold in a way that each time the viewer is
challenged. This same applies to his sculptures, often they
are opposing one another and contain surfaces, which
capture a wide range of haptics. In this way it is even
possible to combine contrasting textures – expressive or as
smooth as glass – within a single artwork. An important
part of Majewskas oevre are also the artvideos which are
characterized by colour, typography, music and multiple
plains. Similar to his images in his paintings and
photographies they require an intense exploration. Ralf
Majewska lives and works as an freelance artist in Bonn and
Cologne.
