Bertold Mathes

Bertold Mathes (*1957, Freiburg i. Br.) studied from 1979
until 1985 at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste
Karlsruhe/Freiburg. In his fascinating approach, Mathes
investigates the limitations of abstract painting and researches
the enigmatic potential of abstract images. Since the 1980s,
the artist has been moving like a border crosser between the
systematic creation of images and visually imaginative
representativeness, between geometric shapes and
amorphous structures.
