Galerie Hans Strelow

Galerie in Düsseldorf
Hans Strelow

The Hans Strelow Gallery was founded in 1971.

Its program is dedicated to promoting contemporary abstract art.

Significant exhibitions have focused on American artists of Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting, such as Adolph Gottlieb, David Smith, Kenneth Noland, and Frank Stella (exclusive representation).

Willem de Kooning was shown for the first time in Germany in a solo exhibition in 1980. Since 1981, Emil Schumacher, the great master of German abstract painting, has been exclusively represented by the gallery, now including the Emil Schumacher estate.

Additionally, the gallery features artists from younger generations: Günther Uecker, Norbert Kricke, Raimund Girke, Ulrich Erben, Imi Knobel, Günther Förg, Jürgen Partenheimer, and Marco Tirelli.

They form the core around which the gallery's activities revolve. In recent years, there has been an increased commitment to the works of Pierre Soulages, Victor Vasarely, and Wilfrid Moser, as well as to newer trends in painting and sculpture: Ralph Merschmann, Martin Huidobro, and Rui Inácio.
