Jürgen Partenheimer - Kalliope

Kalliope, regarded as the "first" among the Greek Muses, lends her name to Jürgen Partenheimer's exhibition at Galerie Hans Strelow. Kalliope represents not only epic poetry and elegy but also embodies the "beautiful voice."

Partenheimer has designed a spatial concept for the gallery that features a wallpaper-like installation, serving as an oversized drawing, upon which paintings are also displayed.

Additionally, porcelain vase sculptures from the Nymphenburg manufactory will be showcased, developed by the artist and produced in small editions under his supervision.

The current paintings and watercolors are primarily inspired by the artist's recent experiences during an extended stay in South Africa, which also led to the creation of an artist book that is on display.

In 2011, Partenheimer was an "artist in residence" at the Nirox Foundation in Johannesburg, which offers prominent contemporary artists an extended stay aimed at fostering exchanges between visual arts, literature, music, and dance. Previous guests have included William Kentridge, Marlene Dumas, Thomas Demand, and Richard Long.
