Zsolt S. Deák

Zsolt Sholto Deák, a native of Hungary, was born in Budapest in 1965. He comes from a family that has a keen interest in art and is artistically active.

After enduring difficult years under a socialist regime that brought much hardship, injustice, and restrictions to his family, he was able to fulfill his dream of studying art at FH Dortmund. Since graduating with a diploma in 1995, he has been working as a freelance painter and object artist.

Following his university education, Zsolt S. Deák felt compelled to explore people and cultures, freedom, and artistic techniques throughout Europe. For over 15 years, he lived, worked, exhibited, and realized art projects across Europe before settling in Westphalia. Today, he resides in Hagen, where his studio is also located.

Since 1995, Deák has exhibited multiple times at the Osthaus Museum Hagen, and his paintings and objects are part of collections in Europe, America, Russia, Canada, Colombia, Peru, Australia, China, Japan, Thailand, and even in the African country of Burundi.
