Rhea Standke

Rhea Standke

Born in 1972 in Dresden, Rhea Standke creates abstract floral landscapes that defy categorization. Her macro views of rose heads, magnolia blossoms, and tulip cups are characterized by baroque vibrancy and an impressionistic allure, yet they remain ethereal in their schematism. Forms seem almost completely erased, while colors appear to blend into one another, conjuring a new visual cosmos. Eruptive light effects lend an ethereal grace to Rhea Standke's pictorial worlds, transcending any structure or physical order. The former master student of Herbert Brandl at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf employs the Alla Prima technique, where color is applied directly in a single layer. As mysterious as they are ecstatic, her vague floral forms extend beyond the edges of the canvas, transporting the viewer into an imaginary space, far removed from any narrative claims or chronology. In doing so, her works rise above time and space, creating a unique aesthetic topos.

Rhea Standke lives and works in Düsseldorf. She graduated from the art academies in Karlsruhe, Vienna, Turin, and Düsseldorf and has exhibited in cities including Tokyo, New York, and China.

Rhea Standke is officially represented by the 30works Gallery.
