Mirko Mielke

Mirko Mielke, born in 1976, is a graduate of UDK Berlin.

In this work, Mirko Mielke references the trophies of the night, the desire to materialize something ephemeral, or at least to create a fetish.

Another key aspect of his work is the use of "concrete as photographic paper." For this, he coats cast concrete objects with liquid photographic emulsion and exposes them using photogram techniques or employs them as solid pinhole camera negatives.

For his diploma project at UDK Berlin, he transformed the space of a demolition site into a massive walk-in pinhole camera and exposed a concrete wall coated with liquid emulsion to capture the image of the building across the street.
