Katharina Schnitzler

Katharina Schnitzler, born in 1963 in Düsseldorf, grew up in an artistic environment thanks to her parents: her father, Conrad Schnitzler, is an artist, and her mother, Christa, is an actress. This upbringing exposed her to happenings, openings, experimental music, and friendships with children from other artistic families.

After finishing school, she entered a vibrant phase of exploration and self-discovery. She experimented and gained experience through various training programs and jobs in fashion, trade fairs, film, theater, photography, and art. Extensive travels to South America and the USA, along with her first experiential installation, Final Kath, in New York (1990 at Galerie Art Space), opened her eyes to her artistic career. From 1995 to 1999, she trained as a Diplom Kunsttherapeutin/Pädagogin at the Fachhochschule Ottersberg and completed her Master of Art at the Universität der Künste Berlin in 2003.
