Galerie meng-art

The meng-art gallery is a space for contemporary art in Lübeck. The rooms are located in a house that is about 100 years old, nestled among a group of historic merchant houses in the lower part of Mengstraße. Many visitors to Lübeck know Mengstraße from the Buddenbrookhaus or the Schabbelhaus.

In the gallery spaces, there were previously a dairy shop, a saddlery, and a tailor's shop. Now, art has taken up residence here. Professional visual artists showcase their work in changing exhibitions. It is also common to present two or three artistic positions together in the respective exhibitions to gain additional perspectives through the combination of different viewpoints.

Gradually, a core collection of works by the participating artists is being established.

The operator, Maria Gust, is herself a visual artist and has met many colleagues and/or their works through her own exhibition activities, travels, or other avenues, whom she believes are of such quality and interest that she wants to present them in the meng-art gallery. Many of these artists are already highly regarded in collector circles.
