BERLINARTPROJECTS
Founded in Auguststrasse in 2006 and just as young as the artist it represents, Berlin Art Projects works closely with emerging artists. The gallery supports and promotes primarily recent art school graduates during the important stage of entry into the art world and accompanies them along their way. Another important emphasis is the focus on contemporary artists from Berlin and Istanbul, an aspect reflected in both the selection of artists featured in its program and its close ties to the Turkish art fair Contemporary Istanbul. June 2012 BERLINARTPROJECTS opened up a large showroom, BAP//Istanbul in Tophane, a trendy district of Istanbul, in which you can also find the Museum Istanbul Modern and the Mimar Sinan university of fine arts. In 2010 the gallery moved to Mehringdamm 33 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Artists such as Yasam Sasmazer, Ulrich Riedel, Claudia Vitari, Jörg Lohse, Meike Zopf and Daniel Harms are regular fixtures in the exhibition schedule and have shaped the gallery’s overall profile and program. The range of media shown includes sculpture, installation, painting and photography.
In September 2011, Berlin Art Projects moved to its new space in the M33 courtyard on Mehringdamm. The former automobile factory is home to many firms and companies, including those from the film, culture and media industries.
Our artists also receive support beyond the exhibition and commercial gallery context to include concepts for exhibitions, the realization of catalogue projects and studio subventions.
