With "All New," Jörg Döring exposes the mechanisms of our time and once again questions the categorical imperative of innovation that threatens to shake our established values to their core. "Nothing gets better simply by being labeled as new in an almost inflationary manner," says Jörg Döring. "Human beings are evolved, historically and culturally shaped entities that have been formed over millennia—and they yearn, both then and now, for stability, orientation, and familiarity."

The Düsseldorf artist explores these fundamental longings in his distinctive visual worlds. He deliberately employs overt, striking effects to derive a deeper subtext from them. Döring addresses the apparent contradiction between visual bombast and quiet contemplation with the tools of a skilled storyteller, where the loud becomes soft, the expressive turns reflective, and the seemingly obvious transforms into a hermeneutic game.

His declared favorite medium remains oil paint, which Döring describes as "the most reliable and sensual of all artistic materials"—thus once again rendering the postulate of "All New" absurd.

What is "new" are his stronger thematic connections to the present day. This somewhat replaces the familiar retro-romanticism and promotes the formation of motifs as an expansion of his oeuvre.
