He is one of the very first artists to accompany 30works from the very beginning. In addition he ranks amongst the most significant representatives of contemporary German Pop Art. Jörg Döring looks back at almost 30 years of artistic work – and masters the game of surface and quality, beauty and aestheticization, art and emulation like no other thanks to his material and motive language.
Within his multi-layered composition of photo- and hyperrealistic female figures, flanked by strong textured colour fields and profound typography with dramatic shades of light, the Düsseldorf-based artist condenses figurativeness and abstraction to highly complex picture stories, which appear timeless, even classic despite being full of motifs and narrative bombast. Therefore they meet all criteria of Evergreens. Falling back on familiar motifs and proven materials Jörg Döring initially suggests the principal of “same, same”, only to break it through technical caprices, stylistic border crossing and surprising contextualizations and to transform it into new codices. It turns to illusionary construct, which is based on skilfully variation of well-known elements. It is an approach, which proves the large compositional talent of Döring – and which is inherent in his work as constant, relevant and timeless factor. All this and more elevates him to the state of a doyen within the portfolio of 30works…
