Same same, but different?! The visual worlds of Jörg Döring, shaped by iconic actors and Sixties pin-ups, may seem familiar. However, the Düsseldorf artist has a unique ability to embed his motifs into constantly new material and genre-specific contexts. This makes him a master of style fusions and technical innovations.

With "Superplus," Döring offers contemporary pop art an upgrade that consciously references the origins of classical painting: oil paint.

In his new works, Döring makes the viscous material dance, splitting it like a spectrometer into rainbow prisms and neon gradients that give his large-format paintings a sense of weightlessness and flow. The photorealistic quality of his motifs is elevated by the expressive coloration, the virtuoso incorporation of filter techniques, and the final patination, creating something both sublime and ironic. Döring's female figures appear more sculptural and sexy than ever.

As sidekicks, he introduces thickly applied comic icons like Mickey, Pink Panther, and Felix the Cat, engaging them in dialogue with his seductive heroines; thus creating both a deliberate material clash and a fusion of photorealism and figuration.
