FULL YEAH! @ 30works with Jörg Döring

Jörg Döring dives headfirst into his fifth solo exhibition at 30works: “FULL YEAH!” not only marks a new chapter in the Düsseldorf artist's creative journey but also showcases the full spectrum of his artistic expression. This includes oil painting, which Döring is returning to with renewed focus in this exhibition.

Like his collages and serigraphs, the large-scale oil works are characterized by a play with materiality and various techniques, creating a complex tension that defies categorization. Sometimes applied roughly and thickly, almost buttery, other times deconstructed and patinated, and then again delicately rendered in a manner reminiscent of realistic painting: Jörg Döring explores the material in all its possibilities, presenting intense, genre-blurring works that range from his interpretation of Pink Panther in orange, which recontextualizes the character, to street art and even references to Jean-Michel Basquiat. He even draws on the portraiture of old masters. “I aim to use things in a way that they develop their own, new language and aura,” says Jörg Döring. “FULL YEAH!” once again proves that he fully meets this ambition.
