Janosch - einfach einzigartig

Janosch. Simply Unique.

Not only children but also adults love his stories. "Post for the Tiger" and "Oh, How Beautiful is Panama" have made Janosch famous. His illustrations are simply one of a kind. There are always little humorous details in his works, and sometimes they are quite critical of society. Language is integrated into the whole through signs, speech bubbles, or thoughts. And then there are those little peculiarities that set the imagination soaring, like the message in a bottle that goes unnoticed in the story but does not escape the viewer's eye. Janosch is enchanted by the magic of the moment and the allure of colors. Even as a three-year-old, he wished for a watercolor set in gold, silver, and pink for Christmas. To this day, these are his favorites: "Gold and silver are laid down. Pink is brought to life with yellow. You also need leaf green and blood red – then I am struck by total magic. A formula from another world."

From another world:
The Langheinz Gallery will showcase 66 images by Janosch, including 22 unique pieces, drawings, and watercolors starting April 4, 2014. The exhibition opens with a vernissage and runs until May 2. Admission is free.

* "With his works, Janosch aims to combat children's fears. In his stories, the adults are the foolish ones, while the small and weak are the true winners. Therefore, we have decided to donate a portion of the sales proceeds to benefit the 'Verein für krebskranke und chronisch kranke Kinder e.V. Darmstadt,'"
