DOGumenta: Der Hund in der Fotografie/Lesung mit Holger Weinert am 04. Februar um 19.00 Uhr
In conjunction with the photography exhibition DOGumenta: The Dog in Photography, the Frankfurt gallery bestregarts is hosting a reading featuring the prominent television host Holger Weinert. The dog lover and host of Hessian television will personally read from his latest book "Ein Hund und eine Seele. Meine Lebensgefährtin Paula." In this new book, listeners and readers will gain a very personal insight into an important chapter of his life, significantly influenced by his Golden Retriever, Paula. In an entertaining and humorous manner, the journalist recalls how his long-time canine companion captured the hearts of many and created amusing situations during encounters with VIPs like Steffi Graf and Sir Peter Ustinov. Even though the beloved dog is no longer with us, the author raises the question of what the death of a cherished pet means to us. The reading will take place as part of DOGumenta. Bestregarts focuses on the dog in a spectacular, one-of-a-kind photography exhibition in Germany. On the 14th floor of the FBC high-rise, located in the heart of the banking district, curator Ewa Nowik presents a fascinating and multifaceted view of man's best friend.
The dog as a motif captivates not only dog lovers but also many artists. Across 600 square meters of exhibition space, bestregarts showcases the works of 14 international photographers: Carli Davidson, Dieter Schwer, Frank Wartenberg, Jana Hartmann, Jillian Lochner, Karin Székessy, Lennette Newell, Mart Engelen, Olaf Martens, Peter Braunholz, Ruth Marcus, Seth Casteel, Valentina Uhlmann, and Walter Schels. Diving, sleeping, or disabled four-legged friends inspire smiles, wonder, and reflection. The exhibition is under the patronage of Maja Prinzessin von Hohenzollern and Holger Weinert. The reading will take place on Monday, February 4th at 7 PM at bestregarts on the 14th floor of the FBC, Mainzer Landstraße 46, 60325 Frankfurt/Main. Admission is €10. We kindly ask for registration via email by February 1st, as seating is limited.
