With his distinctive body of work, Jörg Döring has expanded the classic definitions of Pop Art. “Look Tougher!” is the title of the exhibition featuring his latest works, which will open on March 17, 2012, at the Cologne gallery 30works. The artist will be present at the opening.

Influenced by classic Pop Art and the icons of that era, Jörg Döring develops a unique blend of the present and the past, of the real and the reflective in his works.

His motifs, as Jörg Döring explains, are found “in a heartbeat.” “When something emotionally resonates with me in its raw state, it becomes my foundation, and then I start to tell my story,” says the artist. His medium consists of angular and edgy characters, whether they are film stars or punk musicians, life artists or anti-heroes. He is particularly inspired and accompanied by the 1960s and 70s.

His multifaceted images play with clichés, dreams, and projections. They translate a way of life, showcase the loss and regaining of freedom, and pose questions to the viewer.

In his new series of works, he takes another step forward. Deep insights into individuals and contemporary events lead the viewer into another dimension.
