Stinkfish (CO)
Born in Mexico but raised in Colombia, Stinkfish has been honing his skills on the streets of his hometown, Bogotá, since early childhood. As early as 2003, he began experimenting with stencils and has since perfected his unique style.
His vibrant, colorful works always feature a stencil of a portrait at their center. These portraits are based on photographs the artist takes during his travels around the world. It’s the faces that captivate him, not the people behind them with whom he could converse.
Found images—either picked up from the streets or purchased at flea markets—are another source he draws from. He favors large-scale stencils based on these images, adding spontaneous, colorful halos around them.
He considers his work to be graffiti, with his ideas expressed through murals, studio pieces, paste-ups, fan magazines, and publications.
