Mo Kilders
Mo Kilders
Mo Kilders' paintings depict people in everyday situations set in atmospheric locations. Whether it’s flâneurs at the beach, young street basketball players in urban environments, or swimmers in a pool, the Cologne-based artist captures the movements of her subjects on canvas, effectively "freezing" the fleeting nature of a moment. The transient is made visually and emotionally tangible; the space that her protagonists actively inhabit becomes charged with aura, serving as a point of identification for the viewer. Mo Kilders plays with the means of duality: she juxtaposes the figurative and naturalistic elements of her imagery with aspects of fragmentation, deformation, and abstraction. She employs reflections, shadow outlines, and blurriness, creating deliberate breaks that become integral elements of her compositions. Due to the cropped nature, implicit mobility, and the frontal or vertical perspective of her figures, Mo Kilders' works feel less like genre paintings and more like painted film stills, appearing as the substrate of a staged coincidence.
Mo Kilders lives and works in Cologne. Her works have been exhibited at the Edith Stein Museum in Lubiniec/PL, at BBK Düsseldorf, and in the Kunstraum Bad Honnef.
