Margherita Levo Rosenberg
Margherita Levo Rosenberg - "I also speak German."
Exhibition May 6 – June 18, 2011
Her works are based on the interplay between meaning and suggestion, as well as on objective and formal research. This artistic direction can be described as conceptual Post Pop Art.
Margherita Levo Rosenberg's creative endeavors are greatly nourished and stimulated by her intellect. However, she does not separate her emotions from her learned skills. Often, she uses the same platform for both the irrational and the rational – it is the interplay between metaphor and metonymy. Her permutations, reminiscent of anagrams, suggest a whole range of experimental setups that she had to explore in her quest for new forms. It is precisely in this unique intersection of analytical thinking and creative act that something about the essence of art itself is revealed: her permutations demonstrate to the viewer how every piece of art emerges from the interplay of planned reality and creative irrationality, and how even highly complex stylistic figures – whether modern or primitive – are rooted in the simplest geometric forms. However, permutation is also the content of Margherita's art, which – like all concrete art – has nothing other than itself as its subject.
The numerous implementations and small-scale models of sculptural designs and objects suggest that in her understanding of art, the idea and concept are more important than the actual execution. Yet, the expressive and impressive works convincingly argue the opposite.
