Jürgen Ulmer
With the FERRARI PROJECT, Thomas Eigel and Jürgen Ulmer created a wall installation in 2009 that elevates designed objects from mere admiration at a distance to accessories that are integrated into everyday life within living spaces. A rarity is transformed into an artful representation of mobility, achieved through stylish deceleration for a timeless enjoyment of individual and sophisticated interiors.
There is no foundation of destruction involved; rather, the principle behind the FERRARI PROJECT is a creative process of reimagining, a reinterpretation of materials in terms of meaning. The actions of the artists and the transformation of usage do not question the design or the aesthetic quality. On the contrary, it introduces the ethereal from the mystical into actual use and perception.
The first outcome of the FERRARI PROJECT by the two Hamburg artists Thomas Eigel and Jürgen Ulmer are the “F330 GT 2+2 Rosso Amaranto and F330 GT 2+2 Celeste Metallizzato,” representing the left and right flanks of Ferrari #0813 from 1964, named after their paint colors.
