Hans-Georg Esch

On 23 July 2009, the Henn Galerie opened with an exhibition entitled “Megacities – Spaces of an accelerated society” by architectural photographer H.G. Esch.

In the exhibition, Esch, who was born in 1964, presents a composition of panoramic images
of the world’s great cities and facade structures that appears to merge into a single city. The two series, ´City´ and ´Structure´, are each 26 metres in length and encircle the entire gallery, creating a spatially tangible image of a new global reality. In a seamlessly composed sequence, the photographs reveal how the major cities of the world have come to resemble each other. Only on closer inspection do the differences between the urban architecture of Tokyo, Dubai, Berlin or Chicago become apparent.
