Christoph R. Aerni
"The human figure fascinates me, and the nude is the Latin of painting." (C.R. Aerni)
Swiss artist Christoph R. Aerni was born in 1954 in Hägendorf, Canton of Solothurn. As a painter and sculptor, he works in his studio in Egerkingen. Since 1970, his works have been showcased in numerous solo exhibitions, including at Gallery Art 54 in New York, Konrad-Adenauer-Haus in Bonn, and Centre de Congrès in Monte Carlo.
What is particularly interesting is his painterly interpretation of the different material qualities: soft, hard, matte, and glossy. His mastery of technique is evident in his latest series, where flowing fabrics and drapes envelop female bodies. This results in spectacular folds of dense or transparent material, creating a beautiful composition of light and dark, as well as visible and concealed body parts. His core theme remains the human figure. Thus, the two series are complemented by works that explore the relationship between humans and nature and the environment, or return to his favored theme through pure nudes. The pleasing color palette, which sometimes surprises, emphasizes the sensual and aesthetic representations of artist Christoph R. Aerni.
