Ostendorff Galerie
For 130 years, GALERIE OSTENDORFF has been located at Prinzipalmarkt in Münster:
On December 18, 1889, "ALPHONSUS-BUCHHANDLUNG, publishing and general bookstore," was founded by Albert Ostendorff. The business opened its premises at Prinzipalmarkt 11, right next to the town hall in the center of Münster, initially focusing on the trade of Christian literature and devotional items. Over time, the range expanded to include art objects and picture frames.
After the founder's death, his sons Albert and Gerhard Ostendorff continued the business as "ALBERT OSTENDORFF, publishing and general bookstore, art and painting trade, carpets, and antiques."
On June 26, 1958, the company name was changed to "GERD OSTENDORFF, publishing and general bookstore, art and painting trade, carpets, and antiques."
Following Gerd Ostendorff's death, the company was renamed "GERD OSTENDORFF NACHFOLGER" on January 7, 1974, and was transformed into a GmbH in 1989.
Andreas Gattinger took over the management in 1996. Since then, the gallery has hosted two to three exhibitions annually and has participated in the KUNST & ANTIK fair at Halle Münsterland each year. In 2013, the gallery's floor space was expanded by one-third through an internal restructuring of the building. Since 2015, the gallery has been among the exhibitors at COLOGNE FINE ART.
