Timm Rautert - Endliche Zeit

Timm Rautert
FINITE TIME - New Portraits by Timm Rautert with works by Kristleifur Björnsson, Göran Gnaudschun, Bernhard Fuchs, Grit Hachmeister, Frank Höhle, Margret Hoppe, Tobias Zielony

On the occasion of Timm Rautert's seventieth birthday, Galerie Parrotta Contemporary Art presents an exhibition featuring photographic portraits that express the diversity of human relationships and communities.

For the first time, Timm Rautert showcases a significant portion of his new work ANFANG. In two additional spaces of the gallery, he has invited some of his master students, who explicitly engage with the image of humanity, to exhibit their works: Kristleifur Björnsson, Göran Gnaudschun, Bernhard Fuchs, Grit Hachmeister, Frank Höhle, Margret Hoppe, Tobias Zielony.

The project ANFANG, which Timm Rautert began in 2008 and continues to develop, focuses on young couples who have chosen to live together with children. The color photographs present, in a triptych format, the young couple with a child or children at the center. The camera then looks to the left and right, remaining in the same position, thereby framing the couple's private environment.

Space and time converge; in this beginning, order and chaos become one. Divided into the three images of the triptych, the viewer's attention is particularly challenged, becoming a spectator who sees themselves in the beginning, perhaps sensing the end.

This does not imply an end to the relationship; Rautert's focus, as in many of his images, is on our constant struggle to find a beginning that possesses a sense of permanence. The finite time available to us stands in contrast:
"We are overwhelmed. We organize. It falls apart. We organize again and fall apart ourselves." R.M. Rilke
