Genius loves company
Genius loves company 22.03.- 27.04.2011
Exhibition opening on Tue, 22.03.2011 at 7 PM
Pomona Zipser and Reinhard Zabka share a love for wild stories and expansive constructions, a passion for improvisation, and a desire to look beyond their own horizons. In the gallery space, Pomona Zipser's sculptures, drawings, and paper cuts will engage in dialogue with Reinhard Zabka's light objects and collages. The exhibition in the gallery's basement, featuring objects and installations from the Lügenmuseum, aims to explore new perspectives on the unique cultural heritage it represents. The complete exhibition program can be found below.
“Genius loves company” is the second part of our exhibition series this year, which addresses the question of how we form judgments about art. In this series, we aim to discuss the “building blocks” of art to find a guide through the “labyrinth of art.”
Pomona Zipser was born in Romania and studied in Munich. Her exhibitions have taken place in Berlin, Munich, Dakar, Istanbul, and Japan. Her works are represented in public collections. A large sculpture is located near the Berlinische Galerie at the corner of Kochstrasse and Lindenstrasse. She lives and teaches in Berlin.
Reinhard Zabka is a prominent figure in the Prenzlauer Berg underground scene. Spectacular exhibitions such as Daydreams in 1982 or Idols, Isms, Fetishes in 1985 at the Berliner Dom, or the 1990 Elysium of Zappelphillipp at the Galerie am Prater, set visitor records and had a significant impact in the declining GDR. Zabka broke all conventions with his total artworks. After the fall of the Wall, he transformed his summer studio in Prignitz into the Lügenmuseum.
