Solitude - Alltäglich

"SOLITUDE-ALLTÄGLICH"

In the photo series she has presented to the public since her first exhibition in 2002, Roselyne Titaud demonstrates that private spaces, living rooms, and bedrooms are more than just functional living areas: her main focus is to reveal the poetic dimension of the scenes she observes and to give them an appropriate visual language. In her previous works, Roselyne Titaud primarily dealt with spaces that seemed frozen, entrance halls, living rooms, and bedrooms of people who had reached a kind of standstill in the staging of their privacy. "In all these images," Roselyne Titaud reflects on her own work, "it’s about timelessness, or rather about a confluence of time, a time that belongs to itself from the moment I photograph it. My subjects have nothing to do with the moment; they tell of something else, something that has been paused, not only by photography but also already in reality. I do not want to exchange real time for the time of photography. Time is already in this state of waiting when I capture it, even if the shot lasts only a moment."
