ZHU XIANWEI: PROBLEM(-)LOS

Imaginative, relaxed, and carefree - effortlessly - Zhus imagery intertwines Eastern and Western cultures. In the motifs, the works playfully and masterfully oscillate between detailed realism and abstract expressionism, with a cheeky, self-ironic, and sometimes critical tone. Zhus roots in Zen philosophy openly blend with influences from Western philosophies, such as Heidegger, creating new visual languages. Perspectives that capture the global, everyday, and mood-dependent "problems" are translated onto the canvas, enriching and easing the viewer: Problem(-)free!
