KERN
The exhibition KERN presents two artists whose encounters and painting styles resonate with each other. In the fall of 2010, painter Uta Zeidler met painter Gerard Waskievitz. Both artists methodically converge in their imagery and liberate themselves: Uta Zeidler seeks to avoid strict boundaries, both thematically and in her work, wanting to paint everything that occupies her at the moment: “...the heart attack, the mismatched couple in love, the stray dog I see early on my way, happiness and love...” The paintings of Gerard Waskievitz sometimes seem to pause in their contemplation: “I don’t know how it ends... and then I start all over again.” KERN showcases a blend of perceptions, fantasies, and abstract splashes. There is a joyful pouring of color, an attempt to have no taboos, and a desire to unify everything on the canvas. The artists seek dialogue, inspiration, and engagement through their imagery. The result is an inspiring versatility. KERN connects the urgency to paint and unites the weight and pleasure of two artists in their work.
