The six-part series "Genres in Contemporary Art" concludes with the highly regarded historical painting, which emerged in the 15th century through an increasing engagement with one's own identity and the past of society. However, it served less as a realistic depiction of past events and more as a deliberate glorification, an elevation, and the shaping of a historical myth. As a result, these works were often commissioned, acquired, or exhibited by those in power. The forms and content of historical references by contemporary and independent artists can now be seen at kunstraum t27.
