They see themselves as a group of independent artists that work together at a common project.
For the work Madri e Figlie the artists Chiara Bortoli, Fiorenzo Zancan, Andrea Rosset have collaborated.
Their exhibition in Abnormals Gallery consists of three different parts.
Conservative Forces
works by Andrea Penzo, Cristina Fiore, Elisa Dal Corso, Fiorenzo Zancan and Andrea Rosset
Gravity is a conservative force because the work done by it during its closed course equals zero. A conservative force accumulates, without generating more energy, without giving rise to movement or transformation.
This interdisciplinary project consists of installation, photography, video and performance and introduces three characters, a man and two women, against a white backdrop. The action plays with objects as fetishes. All senses are involved in order for spectators to interact and transgress their own fears and fantasies. It is not about perversion, but about humility. Control is everything, to control the self and all others. Accept the unacceptable.
Madri e Figlie
by Chiara Bortoli, Fiorenzo Zancan, Andrea Rosset
Through a repetitive process - 40 couples of mothers and daughters were asked to have no gesture or communicative intention, 1000 photos were taken for one session of 16 minutes each.
40 sequences portray the relationships between mother and daughter by means of subtle movement. Despite the couples being asked not to move, we can nevertheless still try to perceive the particular symbiosis between them and the identity of each individual woman.
The effect of the work is monumental because of the way it is presented as a solitary object in a dark empty space.
Self - Possession
by Andrea Penzo e Cristina Fiore
This 10 minute performance shows a man (Andrea Penzo) using the body of a woman (Cristina Fiore) as a tool for various purposes. The woman is lying down on a medical bed and several instruments, both medical and fetishistic, are used in combination with the body. The neutrality of the space emphasizes the body’s confrontation with the inanimate objects. The interplay between the two bodies is a balance of trust and faith in the Other. Actions are performed, anxiously but with determination, as if the performers’ lives depend on them.
