The delicate installations of Stef Heidhues, who lives and works in Berlin, are combinatorially developed constructs in space or on paper.

Her works are sculptural, often intertwined with painterly and drawing elements, creating object and paper collages that, with a touch of humor, evoke the constructivist approaches of modernism.

However, this is done only to challenge the assertion of autonomy and self-referentiality of form through an aesthetics of the fragmentary.

By using found, unstable, and often loaded materials, Stef Heidhues questions the systematization and rationalization of content levels in her critique of form, favoring the signifier and the polysemous figure.
