Emilio Vedova. Graphiken.

Born in Venice in 1919, Vedova was arguably the most significant informal painter in Italy. Unlike other 'Abstract' artists of his generation, he was an action painter, a pure practitioner of painting as an act. In 1960, Vedova received the Grand Prize at the Venice Biennale. A closer relationship with Germany developed in 1964 when he set up a studio in Berlin and created the "Absurd Berlin Diary" there. His participation in documenta Kassel in 1955, 1959, 1964, and 1982 brought him recognition in Germany. Vedova passed away in 2006.
