DIE KUNST IST KEIN ZIEL FÜR SICH
The exhibition "ART IS NOT A GOAL IN ITSELF" will take place at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien in Berlin from April 11 to June 28, 2026. Curated by Konstanze Schmitt and Mimmi Woisnitza, the exhibition connects the avant-garde practices of Latvian theater maker Asja Lācis with contemporary artistic, scientific, and activist perspectives. The opening of the exhibition will be on April 10, 2026, starting at 5 PM, with a welcome at 7 PM.
The exhibition will be complemented by a diverse program of events that includes discussions, performances, and workshops. Participating artists and collectives include Chto Delat, cinéma copains, Contrafilé, Alice Creischer, Zhenya Efros, and many others. The opening weekend will focus on the theme "ANTIFASCIST WORKERS’ THEATER Today," addressing the role of cultural workers in times of crisis and authoritarian tendencies. Other program highlights include the feminist retrospective show "Sliktā māte/Schlechte Mutter/Bad Mother," which explores themes of political and personal self-determination in relation to motherhood.
Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien is known for its group and thematic exhibitions that engage with social and cultural processes of the present. The exhibition is open daily from 10 AM to 8 PM, admission is free, and the venue is accessible.
