Elie Nadelman / Peter Fischli David Weiss
The Galerie Daniel Buchholz in Cologne presents an exhibition featuring works by Elie Nadelman and the artist duo Peter Fischli and David Weiss from April 10 to May 23, 2026. The opening will take place on Friday, April 10, from 6 to 8 PM.
Elie Nadelman (1882-1946) was a significant artist who began experimenting with new materials and techniques after the stock market crash of 1929. He moved away from classical sculpture and developed a unique visual language inspired by small, mass-produced Tanagra figures. Nadelman created works in various materials, including papier-mâché, plaster, and ceramics, exploring the possibilities of serial production.
Peter Fischli and David Weiss, who gained recognition in the early 2000s with a public art project at Lincoln Square in New York, found inspiration in Nadelman's works for their own artistic practice. The exhibition addresses the connection between the two artists and highlights their different approaches to figuration in art.
