Jan Kolata's works feature vibrant colors in an expressive style, allowing them to flow and spread like ink until he intervenes in the process with various tools. The resulting structures and forms emerge from the painting process and the inherent dynamics of the color.

Jan Kolata's paintings exist in layers. The artist paints different colors with varying pigment densities, as well as light and dark tones, on top of one another—almost pushing them together—to explore the material quality of the color within this complexity. Thus, each painting by Jan Kolata is also, to some extent, a piece of conceptual art.

During the exhibition in our temporary hall next to our gallery at stilwerk Düsseldorf, we will showcase unique pieces and prints by the artist.
