The concept of home has been up for discussion, especially since perhaps the largest migration in human history: What does it mean to have to leave your home? Can you find it somewhere else? And what exactly defines home...?

AVone has explored these questions in his latest series, “How New York Breaks Your Heart,” also addressing the significance of artistic home. For him, “his” New York represents inspiration, security, and identity, while simultaneously being a source of challenge, routine, and disconnection.

To gain some distance and rediscover the city of his artistic output, desires, and dreams from afar, AVone turned his back on the Big Apple for a few months and chose Los Angeles as his temporary home. His new works are infused with the light, colors, and aura of California’s metropolis, merging its skylines and street views with their New York “sister perspectives” — thus further narratively condensing his complex visual worlds, which draw from elements of Pop Art, stencil art, collage, décollage, and graffiti.
