Gläserne Zeiten
Transparent is the new black! – Clemens Weiss' artistry brings this statement to life in tangible forms. His intricately glued glass sculptures symbolize the complexity of the world while also making it more transparent. Does this reflect the understanding that everything is interconnected? Without a doubt, we are more transparent than ever: artificial intelligence, overwhelming surveillance since 9/11.
This latter event has also transformed us globally and emotionally. The New Yorker Clemens Weiss, who temporarily had his studio in the South Tower of the World Trade Center, documents "the aftermath" in his own way: through a series of drawings titled "Aftermath," which currently includes over 1300 individual images – based on the newspaper editions of the "New York Times" and "New York Post" since September 12, 2001.
Galerie H1 presents a selection of his drawings along with carefully chosen glass exhibits that leave even material engineers in awe. Clemens Weiss also showcases ceramic figures encased in glass constructions, created in studios in Höhr-Grenzhausen.
