Mr. Brainwash in Kitzbühel Juli bis September 2019

GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL has represented the artist Mr. Brainwash in the German-speaking world since 2012. From July to September 2019, the Kitzbühel branch will showcase new works, all unique pieces on paper.

Born in 1966 as Thierry Guetta in Garges-lès-Gonesse near Paris, he has lived in Los Angeles since he was 15.

In Los Angeles, the first exhibition "Life is Beautiful" took place in 2008 and quickly became a crowd-puller with over 50,000 visitors. In 2009, Madonna commissioned Mr. Brainwash to design the album cover for “Celebration.” The breakthrough came in 2010: Mr. Brainwash gained fame through the award-winning and Oscar-nominated documentary "Exit Through the Gift Shop," in which he accompanied his friend and street art legend Banksy at work. This also introduced him to the street art scene, where he began creating art. From that moment on, Mr. Brainwash became a phenomenon, a superstar who rapidly conquered the art world.

In February 2010, the second exhibition "Life Is Beautiful: Icons" opened in New York, covering 1,400 square meters, and sold out within days.

Numerous exhibitions followed in England, Germany, France, and most recently in Seoul. A longer interview has just been published in "Paris Match."

Using stencils (stencil graffiti) as well as screen prints and motifs from pop culture akin to Warhol, the artist has brought urban art from the streets into the living room, merging both art forms. His surprising works mix bright colors in various combinations with sometimes controversial content. This is all executed in mixed media with spray paint, painting, and collage techniques, enriched with ironic references that often conceal a politically social message.

GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL, with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbühel, focuses on high-quality originals of Pop Art, Street Art, and Contemporary Art by Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Keith Haring, Mr. Brainwash, BAMBI, XOOOOX, Roy Lichtenstein, Julian Opie, Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Sean Scully, Robert Longo, Alec Monopoly, Tracey Emin, Peter Doig, Alex Katz, and Mel Ramos.

Regular exhibitions take place in our centrally located galleries. Participation in international fairs rounds out the program.

Many of the works offered can be purchased and taken home immediately, as they are in stock. Please note that due to high demand, prices for some artists may increase, and older prices may no longer be valid.
