Life-affirming and refreshingly different: the portraits of the Munich-based artist dissociate themselves from the aesthetic canon and differentiate through their unique character. His faces are the construct of the imagination of human existence, testimony of self-reflection and self-alienation; but therein lies the catchiness and straightforwardness of the artworks by Peintre X. In the course of K1 galleries’ night 30works dedicates his first Cologne-based solo show to the artist in its City space.

His portraits impress not only with their high degree of recognition, but also with their magnificent elaborated roughly brushwork. Here and there painterly elements are accompanied by encrypted letterings made of wood or neon lights and underlaid by cuttings from newspapers and comic books. Recently, in addition to quotations of the art world, is a new, unusually clear message to be found besides the previous known “AINP” (The artist is not present) or „LIF EIS NOT A l WAYS ADAM I ENHI RST“: “I believe”. With this positive connotation the artist approaches the Pop Art cosmos, even though he makes use of many elements of impressionism, expressionism and object art.
In his solo exhibition “X-Rays” Peintre X shows the radiance within his paintings, which shine in new splendour thanks to a new high-gloss finish.

Peintre X lives and works in Munich. His artworks were already exhibited in Basel and Hong-Kong, in addition to art fairs such as ARTMUC, Stroke Art Fair and ART.FAIR. By assuming an alias, the artist deliberately fades into the background to let his artistic work speak for itself.

The artist will be present at the opening on June 29th 2018.
