Roter Faden - Schwarz
In the exhibition "Red Thread – Black," we present several outstanding positions in contemporary painting that share a common element: black (color? – color mass).
In summary, the artists can be described with the adjectives "conceptual-concrete-constructive," although their positions differ significantly. A notable distinction lies in the relationship of each work to its environment, that is, the real space it occupies. Is the artwork self-contained, thus a "work," or is it open and can therefore be considered part of the architecture?
Of course, the overall works of the individual artists cannot be limited to the color selection exhibited here, but encompass a much broader spectrum of colors. Ebnother's cycle "Relatively Black" was one of the impulses for this group exhibition. Similarly, the internationally recognized painters Pino Pinelli and Diet Sayler also use different colors, including black, time and again. Accordingly, few recent paintings are shown; rather, the focus is on works featuring black from a longer time frame.
