RÜDIGER GIEBLER UND MORITZ GÖTZE – Grand Tour
You are cordially invited to the opening with the artists on Saturday, March 24 at 8 PM, along with your friends. At the same time, we will be showcasing ceramics by Grita Götze. The opening speech will be given by Marion Walsmann.
Two artists, Moritz Götze and Rüdiger Giebler, are on a Grand Tour, embarking on the obligatory journey of a gentleman. Enjoyably and thoroughly, they have been making up for lost time for decades, reclaiming what was forbidden when their friendship began and the "antifascist protective wall" kept too much fresh air at bay.
"Moritz Götze always has a plan. Rüdiger Giebler provides supplementary insights. They occasionally venture out. Together, they have been on their Grand Tour for over a quarter of a century. This journey has offered glimpses into the vast world and numerous fascinating behind-the-scenes looks at local history: Paris, London, Wurzen near Leipzig, Viljandi in Estonia, and much more... Their autodidactic love for their homeland and their expanded travels as a declaration of friendship represent a unique form of education."
What has been gathered over years of shared educational journeys in terms of impressions and insights, which regularly manifested in the form of art, is currently being returned to the world as a performance in the shape of an extensive exhibition tour. The exhibition locations are chosen at random. A career-minded artist would be driven to despair by this generous squandering of potential, time, and resources. London, Paris, New York, Melbourne, Frankfurt am Main, and Brussels as exhibition stops are plausible, but why on earth would one exhibit in Kazakhstan or Napier in New Zealand or a place in the forests of southern Sweden? This generosity is a concept—returning to both provincial locations and capitals what they have provided: inspiration.
