Nguyen Xuan Huy – Silence
We warmly invite you to join us in Frankfurt for the opening with the artist on Friday, March 16 at 7 PM.
Few contemporary artists master the medium of oil painting as virtuously as Nguyen Xuan Huy, and only a handful feel such a strong connection to European traditions as this master does. Odysseus among the Sirens, Venus and Mars, Géricault, Boucher, Bosch, or the Nabis—Nguyen meticulously engages with all these themes, employing knowledgeable parables and a sense of finesse.
From this seemingly otherworldly perspective, Nguyen sharpens his focus on the present, delivering incisive social criticism and offering a fresh view on the current state of our continent as well as the mental devastations in the minds of its inhabitants.
Nguyen Xuan Huy was born in 1976 in Hanoi. He studied at the Hanoi University of Architecture, at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux, and earned his painting diploma in 2003 from HfKD Burg Giebichenstein in Halle. He has worked at the Vermont Studio Center and is a recipient of international art awards.
