XOOOOX – LOOKIE LOOKIE
GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL will open the exhibition "XOOOOX – LOOKIE LOOKIE" on September 16, 2019, from 7 to 9 PM in Nuremberg.
The exhibition primarily features new unique pieces by the Berlin street artist on wood and metal. It will run until October 30, 2019.
Similar to Banksy, the true identity behind the pseudonym XOOOOX (*1979) remains unclear. However, he is the only German street artist who is internationally recognized and has permanent gallery representation in New York and London.
Early auction successes, such as the sale of a work in London in 2008, along with exhibitions in New York, London, Vienna, Hamburg, and Berlin, confirm the growing success of this exceptional artist.
His life-sized stencils depict perfectly styled female models, staged in the manner of fashion campaigns. However, he uses materials with history for the background, such as weathered wood, fabrics, or oxidized copper sheets. This aspect of transience creates a contrast to the shine and glamour of the fashion world.
In many of his works, he also incorporates logos from fashion brands, which he alters. In some cases, this can be seen as a tribute, especially to brands with a long tradition. In others, it serves as a critique of the over-industrialization of fashion, inviting viewers to question it.
GALERIE FLUEGEL-RONCAK, with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbühel, focuses on high-quality originals of Pop Art by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, Julian Opie, James Rosenquist, Alex Katz, and Mel Ramos.
We also offer works by Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Basquiat.
The growing segment of Street and Urban Art is represented by XOOOOX, Mr. Brainwash, and Bambi. Regular exhibitions take place in our centrally located space on two floors at Oberen Wörthstrasse. Participation in international fairs rounds out our program. Contemporary artists such as Robert Longo and Allen Jones can also be found in our collection.
