Mr. Brainwash meets Kitzbühel
GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL opens a second location in Kitzbühel, Austria
Kitzbühel/Nuremberg; January 9, 2018. GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL, specializing in Pop Art and contemporary art, will open an additional branch in Kitzbühel, Austria, on February 16, 2018.
The gallery is centrally located in Kitzbühel in a typical Tyrolean townhouse with a history spanning 480 years. The property, also known as Mantler Haus, is situated at Josef-Pirchl-Str. 6.
The gallery will open on Friday, February 16, with the exhibition "Mr. Brainwash meets Kitzbühel."
Life is beautiful – this is the message from Thierry Guetta, better known as Mr. Brainwash, currently one of the most famous street artists alongside Banksy, whose works have been taking the art world by storm for several years.
The Frenchman, who lives in Los Angeles, gained worldwide fame as an enthusiastic filmmaker through the award-winning documentary "Exit Through the Gift Shop," in which Mr. Brainwash follows his friend Banksy at work. This led him into the street art scene, where he began creating his own art. From that moment on, Mr. Brainwash became a phenomenon, a superstar who rapidly conquered the art world.
His first two solo exhibitions in Los Angeles in 2008 and New York in 2010 attracted thousands of visitors and sold out completely within a few days.
In 2016, the artist had his first equally successful museum show in Seoul, Korea. Numerous stars are loyal collectors, including Rihanna and Madonna, for whom he has also designed a CD cover.
Works by Mr. Brainwash also perform well at auctions, consistently fetching prices far beyond estimates. The current record was set in October 2010 at Phillips de Pury in London, where a piece featuring the Einstein motif sold for $120,000.
GALERIE FRANK FLUEGEL, with locations in Nuremberg and Kitzbühel, focuses on high-quality originals of Pop Art by artists such as Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Keith Haring, Mr. Brainwash, BAMBI, Roy Lichtenstein, Julian Opie, James Rosenquist, Alex Katz, and Mel Ramos. The gallery also offers works by Pablo Picasso, Alec Monopoly, Gerhard Richter, and Basquiat. Exhibitions take place every two months at the centrally located gallery in Nuremberg and in Kitzbühel.
Participation in international art fairs rounds out the program.
