Dancing until the Ground is Gone

We warmly invite you and your friends to join us for the opening with the artist on November 4 at 8 PM in our Erfurt gallery.

For two decades, Nguyen Xuan Huy has been living in Germany. His current exhibition focuses on the dance on the volcano that our society is performing. With sharp insight, knowledgeable parables, and a sense of art historical finesse, he depicts the abandonment of civilization, democracy, and prosperity by an overindulgent elite.

Nguyen Xuan Huy was born in 1976 in Hanoi. He studied at the Hanoi University of Architecture, at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux, and earned his painting diploma in 2003 at Burg Giebichenstein under Möhwald and Pleuger. He has worked at the Vermont Studio Center and is a recipient of international art awards.

Nguyen's painting is highly political. The overt eroticism of his images serves as a medium for his social critique, undermining any notion of political correctness from the outset. Good art must be as bitterly ironic, frivolous, and clever as it is perfect and contrarian.
