Grita Götze - Feldrand - Keramiken und Papierarbeiten
You and your friends are warmly invited to the opening with the artist on May 5, 2017, at 7:00 PM.
Grita Götze is an extraordinary painter. She possesses a completely independent artistic vision and knows more about composition, anatomy, perspective, color, and texture than many contemporary star painters. However, her works rarely find a place on the walls of our museums, as she uses ceramics as her medium instead of canvas. This not only complicates her access to fame and recognition in the art scene but also presents a unique technical challenge. Ceramic colors change tone during firing, which requires years of experience and technical skill to master. Moreover, creating a drawing or composition on a curved, three-dimensional surface is significantly more complex.
Grita Götze's vessels are not conventional ceramics. They are sculptures, but without the pretentious attitude of "I-am-a-work-of-art-and-nothing-else," instead embodying a sense of rightful existence. They serve as vases, plates, cups, jugs, etc., at least in theory. Their exquisite rarity, uniqueness, and perfection turn their practical use into a statement, an act of extravagance, presentation, or even worship.
"Those who wish to understand how beauty and the representation of nature can mutually enhance each other will find fascinating models in Grita Götze's ceramic works. With an air of the self-evident, these objects harmoniously unite functionality and decoration, vessel form and ornament."
