IN DEN RAUM ZEICHNEN umreißen, verdichten, spuren

A three-part exhibition series featuring 30 artists
"Something powerful and difficult to grasp seems to be space."
(Aristotle, Physics, Book IV)

Three consecutive exhibitions in three Berlin galleries exploring the line as a constitutive structure and tool for understanding volume and space. The focus is solely on works that operate between drawing thought and sculptural placement in space. A project about sculpture in Berlin.

Exhibition opening at Galerie Parterre Berlin on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 7 PM

The exhibition series IN DEN RAUM ZEICHNEN, curated by painter Claudia Busching and sculptor Pomona Zipser, examines artistic forms of appropriating space as well as the production of three-dimensional object worlds. Through proposed interpretations of linear sculpture—outlining, condensing, tracing—it contributes to the current art discourse surrounding the line.

Under the title outlining, the first exhibition investigates the relevance and continuation of avant-garde sculpture from the 1920s. At Galerie Parterre Berlin, historical positions by Norbert Kricke and Naum Gabo are placed in the context of contemporary works: Jeongmoon Choi's blacklight installation, sculptures by Monika Brandmeier, Christoph M. Gais, and a video work by Betina Kuntzsch.
