Realism 3.0: with its upcoming show “Fourplay” 30works proudly presents a new generation of contemporary artists, which explicitly refer to the art of drawing and painting as source and essence of artistic expression – and thus implement this play with reality, illusions and emotions by new forms of genuine imageries…

As a result, Rainer Augur, Benjamin Burkard, Max Gärtner and David Uessem vary their respective connotations of realism, which they break by either alienating, abstracting or hybridizing the different elements. That way they demand a new definition of pictorial reality.
Augur’s photorealistic paintings show human beings in extreme personal and emotional moments, which were directly projected on the observer, whereas Burkard’s artworks blend, sometimes somewhat surrealistic, drawings and paintings, mankind and machine. On the basis of hand-drawn lines Max Gärtner creates graphically abstracted animal portraits, which represent a balancing act between nature and metaphysics; and with his contrary motives and techniques David Uessem evokes a new form of hyperrealism, which culminates in a mystical concept of human existence.
